Rick Howarth

It is with great sadness the family of Rick Howarth announces his passing on March 19, 2012, after a lengthy battle against the complications of Diabetes. Rick lived his short 52 years to the fullest and "He did it his way". He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carla; his three sons, Justin (Melinda), Cody (Daja), and Ricky Jr. (Carenda) of Biloxi, MS; his mother, Rosemary Howarth of Mt. Shasta, CA; and 2 grandchildren, Brody and Jada. Rick was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on June 23, 1959. He moved to Mt. Shasta, California with his parents in 1964, where he started kindergarten at Mt. Shasta Elementary and graduated from Mt. Shasta High School in 1977. Rick was active in football, baseball, and a long term member of the Mt. Shasta Swim Team, holding many county swimming records in the Backstroke and the Butterfly Stroke. He also coached the Special Olympics Swim Team. Rick spent two years in the Marine Corps, returning to Mt. Shasta in 1982. He moved to Reno, Nevada in 1984 to begin his career in Casino Security. He also worked for the Job CORP in Reno, Nevada as a counselor for troubled teens. He worked his way up to his transfer and promotion to Security and Risk Director for Boomtown Casino at the Biloxi, MS property in 1994. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, swimming, and cooking. He was a founding member of the Rusty Spokes Motorcycle Club in Biloxi, MS. Rick will be greatly missed by his family and friends but fondly remembered for his strength, love for his family, and grand sense of humor. A private celebration of his life will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his favorite charities: "WoundedWarriorProject.org" or "American Diabetes Association".
