Robert Earl Bellman, 86, died on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at home in D’Iberville surrounded by his family. Robert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Commentator. He served in the United States Army for 2 years in Germany. Robert then went back to school and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where he majored in Political Science and Criminal Justice. He retired from the Biloxi Police Department after 20 years. He also served as a Justice Court Judge and a counselor in the prison system. Robert was a member of the D’Iberville City Council for 12 years. He was active in numerous organizations and clubs. Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, Philip and Alice Seymour Bellman; brothers and sisters, Phillis Burke, Bertridge Brou, Inez McLain, Carrie Emerson, Eddie Bellman, Philip Bellman, and Bernise Cascio. Mr. Bellman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Thelma DeGeorge Bellman; children, Chris and Dixie Bellman and Mary and Donny Plummer; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family prefers memorials to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Scared Heart Chapter, 10446 LeMoyne Blvd., D’Iberville, MS 39540 or to the Priest’s Retirement Fund – Diocese of Biloxi, 1790 Popp’s Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue is in charge of arrangements.
