Robert E. “Bob” Bredberg, 85, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2014, at Biloxi Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born September 16, 1928, in Spokane, WA, the younger son of Carl and Clara Bredberg. Bob graduated from Mandan High School and went on to graduate from Montana State University with a degree in civil engineering. During the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy, stationed aboard the carrier U.S.S. Boxer and went on to serve 20 years in the Navy Reserve, ultimately attaining the rank of commander.
Bob worked as a civil engineer for more than 50 years and was last employed by N-Y Associates, Inc. in Biloxi, MS. His engineering career was spent designing and overseeing the construction of railroads, highways, bridges, and other large civil engineering projects in various locations throughout the country.
Bob was a kind and generous man who loved his God, his family, his friends, and his work. His love was unconditional and unwavering and his memory will be lovingly cherished.
Bob was married for 50 years to Joycelyn Dodge Bredberg, who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Rodger Barklund, and their four daughters, Sigrid, Linnea, Annika and Karin; by his son, Robert Bredberg and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Kamuf; and by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Sonny Thompson; and sister-in-law Lucille Bredberg.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 2521 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm with the memorial service following at 2:00 pm. Refreshments will be served after the memorial.
