Robert Walter Latil, Sr., age 86, of Biloxi, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
Mr. Latil was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He graduated from Biloxi High School. He entered Latil Motor Company which had been established in 1938 where he worked with his father and brother. He worked continuously at that site on Caillavet St. for approximately 75 years. The firm was recognized by the Chrysler/Dodge Corporation over the years for various achievements. Mr. Latil was a member of the First Baptist Church where his mother had been a charter member. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He painted as a hobby and truly enjoyed his friends and beloved family.
Mr. Latil was preceded in death by his parents, O.A. Latil, Sr. and Alice Albritton Latil; brother, O.A. Latil, Jr.; sisters, Marie Pucket, Alice (Teancie) Berry and Eleanor McLean; first wife, Ida Lee Saujon Latil of Biloxi; and second wife, Voncile Maddox Latil of Raleigh, MS.
Survivors include his sons, Robert W. Latil, Jr. of Ocean Springs, Jack David Latil of Gulfport, Joseph Lester Latil of Ocean Springs and David Michael Latil of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Anne Marie Collins of Biloxi; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
