Robert "Speedy" Spivacke

Mr. Robert "Speedy" Spivacke, age 71, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Ocean Springs. Speedy was born in Virginia on March 6, 1942. He joined the Air Force at the age of 18 and traveled around the states, ending for a while at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, where he met and married his wife, Hester Ann, in 1964. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the Air Force after 21 years. He then spent eight years as a marketing director of the Carousel Mall in San Bernadino, CA. and as a sales representative for Geiger Marketing for 16 years Speedy's passion was being a square dance caller and teacher for 27 plus years. He was so well known across the nation. His sense of humor was crazy, funny and sometimes a little out there. But it was always in good fun. Two years ago Speedy was elected as Honorary Mayor by the people of St. Andrews because of his hard work. He was also president of the Homeowners Association for the past 5 years. Speedy was also a member of both Fountainbleu Volunteer Fire Department and the St. Andrews Volunteer Fire Department of which he was so proud. He was the type of man that as long as he was making people laugh or helping out a friend or stranger, he was happy. Speedy was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Rose Marie, a brother, Joe and his loving dog, Poncho. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hester, son, Dean (Sherry) Spivacke, daughter Denise, grandchildren, Alexis, Lacy, Drew, Alyson and Gage, his favorite sister-in-law, Jo (Cliff) Francway, brother-in-law, Edgar (Eleanor) Long, sister-in-law, Dottie Spivacke, and many nieces and nephews.
