Rodney Charles Steenbergen

Rodney Charles Steenbergen, 81, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Gulfport. He was born in Rochester, Indiana on January 27, 1931. Mr. Steenbergen spent the first half of his life in Ohio. He later moved to Tampa Bay, Florida where he lived for thirty two years, then spending the past seven years in Gulfport. Rodney never met a stranger. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and out going personality. His patience was said to have rivaled that of Job’s. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Steenbergen was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Jefferson and Margaret Denny Steenbergen; brother, Jefferson Dale Steenbergen. Survivors include his wife, the love of his life for 49 years, Kay Steenbergen; daughters, Pamela Featherstone (Marvin), Pat Powell, Debbie Marlow (Larry), Donna Lewis (Terry), Denise Mynhier (Tom), Kathy "Katie" Hudson (Ken), Kimberly “Lisa” McCraw, Tammy Wheat (Tim); Sisters, Mabel Blanton and Fran Durbin both of Florida; brother, T.J. Steenbergen of Pennsylvania; twenty one grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Officiating the service are Rodney’s nephews Pastor Ernie Durbin of Hamilton, Oh & Pastor Tom Mullins of West Palm Beach, Fl. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road in Gulfport. Service will be on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2pm at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery.
