Ronnie K. Ornstein, 71, of Ocean Springs, passed away on September 17, 2014.
Born Roslyn Knobel, she was a Graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, New York and The Restaurant School, in Philadephia, Pennsylvania. During the early seventies, Ronnie's first career was as an interior designer. As a parent of an intellectually disabled child, she successfully lobbied for the institution of Special Educational Rights that were eventually incorporated into the Americans with Disabilities Act. Together with her husband, she was co- owner of the El Rancho Casino Resort in Haiti from 1989-1992. After moving to Ocean Springs in 1993, she became known as Chef Ronnie, using her Classic culinary training as a Caterer. Ronnie had traveled the world extensively and loved the arts and nature.
She is survived by her children, Todd Ornstein and Stacey Perry; her grandchildren, Thad Perry, Sascha Perry and Drew Hicks; her great-granddaughter, Sophia Rae Kaletsch; and by her ex-husband Marvin Ornstein.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ronnie at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24th, 2014 at 610 General Pershing Blvd in Ocean Springs Ms.
