Rose Oakes

Mrs. Rose Ione Webber Oakes, 90, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Oakes was born in Ocean Springs where she remained a lifelong resident. She worked 45 years in Civil Service in accounting and finance at Keesler Air Force Base. As she wished, she was in the comfort of her home surrounded by family and friends during her final days. This was all made possible by the palliative care provided by Hospice of Light. Mrs. Oakes was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Swazy Oakes, and sister, Mary Alice "Mae" Miller. Survivors include her only daughter, Dr. Teri Sue Oakes Dyess of Jackson, MS; two grandchildren, Mason and Lauren; sister, Nony Rather; and brother, Arthur Webber. Dr. Teri Oakes Dyess would also like to thank Kare-In-Home Health and Hospice of Light as well as her special sitters, Stephanie, Brenda and Sharon for the attention and care they provided. A Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
