Roy Nicholas Mattina, Sr., age 92, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017.
Roy was born on February 10, 1925 to Sidonia Fayard and Joseph Mattina. He received an Honorary Diploma from Biloxi High School and a National Top Hatter Award for Ford Motor Company. Roy worked as a salesman at Radio Shack and was also self-employed at Roy's News & Tobacco Store and a car salesman at Pringle Ford. He also served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Sangamon.
Roy enjoyed music and dancing. He was the chairman of Bingo for Our Lady of Fatima, Biloxi Protective Order of the Elks 606, and the Italian American Society. Roy also served as the chairman of the Gulf Coast Annual Nuns Appreciation Banquet. He was a member of AMVETS, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, a Justice Court Judge, and a Biloxi City Councilman, served as an officer in Biloxi Youth Pony and Colt Leagues, a member and Elk of the Year of BPOE 606, president of the Italian American Society, King of Young Matrons and Les Pierrots Carnival Associations.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ursula M. Mattina, parents, Sidonia Fayard and Joseph Mattina; his granddaughter, Jana Demoran; and his brothers, Joseph F. Mattina and Dalton Mattina.
Roy's survivors include his children, Roy N. (Margaret) Mattina, Jr., Jeff J. (Dianne) Mattina, Christy A. Demoran, Zachary J. (Cindy) Mattina; his grandchildren, Kevin Mattina, Lynette Mattina, Jeffrey Mattina, Jacob Mattina, Seth Mattina, Lewis Demoran, Julie Demoran, Jill Demoran, Courtney Mattina, Brooke Mattina; his great-grandchildren, Tony Demoran, Alyssa Demoran, Payton Mattina, Trase Stuart, Ryker Mattina, and Raelyn Mattina.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Autism Program at Millcreek Treatment Center, 900 1st Avenue N.E., Magee, MS 39111, or St. Vincent de Paul of Our Lady of Fatima, 2090 Pass Road Biloxi, MS 39531.

Father Henry will be officiating the services. Honorary pallbearers include Kevin Mattina, Jeffrey Mattina, Jacob Mattina, Seth Mattina, Trase Stuart, and Tony Demoran.
