Ruby Lois Gehrmann Hegwood

Ruby Lois Gehrmann Hegwood, 71, of Biloxi, MS was called Home on Friday, March 13, 2015. Mrs. Hegwood was born in Biloxi, MS to Richard Chester and Aletha Gehrmann on October 9, 1943. She attended Biloxi Schools and spent many years traveling as a military wife. She was an active member of Big Ridge Baptist Church where she treasured her Sunday school class. Mrs. Hegwood’s husband, children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Spending time with her family and friends always brought her great joy. She enjoyed gardening, painting, crossword puzzles and playing cards. She lived a life full of love and laughter and will be forever missed. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Hegwood is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Annette Pates; and brother, Larry Gehrmann. Survivors include her husband, M.J. “JR” Hegwood; son, Merida (Teena) Hegwood, III of Seminary, MS; daughter, Joann (Hal) Jenkins of Saucier, MS; son, Chris (Krista) Hegwood of Orlando, FL; son, Richard (Deborah) Hegwood of Biloxi, MS; daughter, Jennifer “J.J.” (Robert) Hankins of Biloxi, MS; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Gehrmann, Delores Simmons and Wayne Gehrmann; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
