Ruth Fountain Landess died in Biloxi on April 2, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born in Biloxi on October 30, 1925 to the late Ernest Nacy and Hattie Cruthirds Fountain and was a lifelong resident of Biloxi-Gulfport, except for a short time when she lived in New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Alvin Landess, a baby son Deryl, a daughter Elaine (Landess) Noble, four brothers, two sisters, and a daughter in law Cynthia Landess.
Survivors include four children; Linda (Phil) Simun of Sumter, South Carolina; Steve (Sylvia) Landess of Biloxi; Gary (Belinda Endris) Landess of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Debbie (Allan) Massie of Gulfport, along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ruth, who was a home-maker, also worked in her younger days at Handelmann’s Shoe Store and later at Biloxi High School.
She was a member of First Assembly of God in Gulfport. Over the years she was active in church ministry, especially in music, as a choir member and vocalist. She was also a vocalist for weddings and funerals in Biloxi and Gulfport. She was a devoted follower of and witness for Jesus Christ.
Her life celebration service will be Monday, April 6, 2015 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th St. Gulfport at 2:30p.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Rev. Phil Simun will be officiating. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
