Shannon Randazzo Sablich

Shannon Randazzo Sablich passed away peacefully surrounded by her family February 21, 2013. Shannon was a native of Biloxi, born September 29, 1924. She was a lifelong member of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church. Shannon graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and then went on to the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Shannon returned to Biloxi and worked at Keesler AFB Hospital as an ob-gyn nurse and eventually moved to the NICU ward. She was very passionate about her work. She retired from Keesler AFB. Shannon was always active in her community, a member of the Biloxi Woman’s Club, member of the King’s Daughters and Sons, and a member of the Tuesday Women’s Coffee Club. She was an avid fan and Booster Parent of the Sacred Heart Kiltie Band. The City of Biloxi recognized her as Mother of the Year in 2008 and she was a dedicated Biloxi Regional Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer where she was awarded Emeritus Status for service. She carried forward her Mother’s Croatian heritage as a member of the Slavonian Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed making Pusharatas. Shannon married the love of her life the late James E. Sablich Sr. In their retirement they enjoyed traveling the world, enjoying their kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sablich was preceded in death by her husband Mr. James E. Sablich, Sr.; parents, Mr. Frank Randazzo and Marie Kulivan Randazzo; sister, Dorothy (Blackie) Randazzo Williams of San Antonio; and one grandchild Gregory Marko Gilich. Surviving family members are a son, James E. Sablich Jr. and his wife Mary of Ocean Springs; two daughters, Serena and Andrew (FoFo) Gilich Jr. and Julie and Dale Egressy of Biloxi; seven grandchildren, Rachel Gilich Wade (Keith), Gretchen Gilich, Andy Gilich (Michelle), Jamie Sablich III (Karen), Jennifer Lapin (Jason), John and Justin Sablich; five great-grandchildren, Max and Zach Wade, Jude Sablich, Ansley Gilich and Reese Lapin; and sister, Marie Randazzo Clement. She also leaves behind many furry grand-pets. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Sacred Heart Building Fund, 870 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39532. The Sablich Family extends thanks to Julia “Peaches” and Fran, her personal caretakers and all the bedside angels who have been there throughout her journey. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 26th at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. where friends may call one and a half hour before. Burial service will follow at Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
