Shirley Mae Wallace Sinigal was born the fourth child of the late Joseph and Helen Wallace on February 19, 1934 in Ocean Springs, MS where she was a lifelong resident. As a child she became a faithful and devoted woman of God and a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the board of trustees, member of the chair, pianist and organist.
Shirley Mae Wallace Sinigal attended and graduated from Elizabeth H. Keys High School in Ocean Springs, MS where she was the Valedictorian. She excelled as a star on the girls varsity basketball team that won the Gulf Coast Championship. She was a longtime employee of Blossman Gas, INC. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law and friend. Shirley went into eternal life on Friday, March 3, 2017 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willis J. Sinigal; her sisters, Bertrice “Bert” Wallace Eckstein, Juanita “Billie” J. Wallace Winn and Sabra E. Wallace Jones; her brother, Warner “Joe Boy” R. Wallace; and her son, Norris W. Sinigal.
Left to cherish the fond memories are her two sons, Hershel J. Sinigal of Long Beach, CA and Lance G. Sinigal of Ocean Springs, MS; her three daughters, Pamela E. (Steven) Esters of D’Iberville, MS, Daphne L. McNeal of Abilene, TX and Betsy A. (Joseph) Ferrell of Ocean Springs, MS; her sister, Geraldine Wallace (Percy) Oliver of Ocean Springs, MS; her brother, Theodore (Stella) Wallace of Ocean Springs, MS; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Going Home Celebration, officiated by the Reverend LaSonya Turner Debose, will be held at St. James United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs, MS on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm where friends may visit from 11:00 am until celebration time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
