Stanley Clement Dellenger

Stanley Clement Dellenger, a lifetime resident of Biloxi and devoted husband and father, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. Stanley was born on August 16, 1931. He was married to his lifelong sweetheart Mary Evelyn (Anglada) Dellenger for 64 years. His life’s passions included trolling for Speckled Trout in Graveline Bayou, working with sheet metal, especially Copper, in his shop, and spending time with his family and friends during Holidays and special occasions. Stanley was a master sheet metal mechanic, he owned and operated Stanley C. Dellenger Sheet Metal Works and Roofing, Inc. for 50 years. Stanley had four children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He loved his craft, and he never forgot a sheet metal or roofing job - many of which were iconic historical landmarks. The City of Biloxi named September 2, 2014, as “Stanley C. Dellenger Day” in recognition of the his business’ 50th anniversary. Stanley was a lifelong member of Nativity BVM Cathedral and graduated from Notre Dame High School, where he played football and basketball. He played semi-pro baseball after high school and played organized softball and basketball for more than 20 years after high school. He served in the United State Navy, and he was deployed overseas on the Destroyer, USS NOA, to fight in the Korean War. He was a volunteer coach and team sponsor at Biloxi Southern Little League for over 10 years. He was King of The Revelers in 1984, Duke of Revelers, Duke of GCCA, and served on the Board of Directors and as Captain of Revelers. He was also a member of Les Pierrots carnival organization that his father, Philip, was a founding member. He was a member of the Biloxi Business Men’s Club, Biloxi Elks Lodge, and the Biloxi Yacht Club. He was a charter member of the Mullet Brigade, a group of men who caught and fried “Biloxi Bacon” for local functions and special guests, including the distinguished Air Force Blue Angels. He was preceded in death by parents Philip and Noreta Dellenger, sister Noreta Besst, and brothers Kenny and Philip Dellenger. He is survived by wife Mary Evelyn Dellenger, and brother Leonard Dellenger; children Paul (Debby), Diane Dellenger Puzz (Darren Widel) Stanley Jr. (Rose), Mathew Dellenger (Monique); grandchildren Jason and Travis Puzz; Paul Jr. and Neil Dellenger; Ross and Evelyn Dellenger; Riley, Ava and Miles Dellenger; three great grandchildren Paul III, Capri, Logan and many beloved relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at Nativity BVM Cathedral (870 Howard Ave, Biloxi, MS 39530) at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Southern Memorial. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Nativity BVM Catholic Church.
