Stanley Winton Parish Sr., 68, of Perkinston, MS, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ surrounded by family in his home, March 3, 2017.
Stanley was born in Jackson, MS to Martice and Christine Parish on January 11, 1949. He attended D’Iberville High School, and volunteered for service in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy in 1966-1969. He married Elaine Reid on July 6, 1969 in Biloxi, MS. They had four children; Susan, Shellye, Stanley Jr., and Mark. He adopted his granddaughter Christine in 1990. Stanley and Elaine divorced in 1994. Stanley remarried on October 6, 2000 to Cherie Cagle of Biloxi.
Upon returning from Vietnam in 1969, he went on to work for South Central Bell as a service repairman for 23 years until retirement from AT&T, due to his disability from the Vietnam War. He was the Vice President of the Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee, where he helped design, fundraise and build a statewide memorial to the men and women from the State of Mississippi who died in the Vietnam Conflict. The memorial is located in Ocean Springs, MS. He was a Freemason and is a published poet.
Stanley is preceded in death by his father, Martice Parish; his mother, Christine Cates; his stepmother, Mary Parish, his stepfather, David Cates; and his brothers, Wayne Cates, Martice Ray Parish, Jerry Parish and Robert Parish.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 17 years, Cherie Parish; his children, Susan Parish (Robert) Reville, Shellye Parish (Jason) Smith, Stanley W. Parish Jr., Mark A. Parish and Christine Nicole (Brandon) Bates; his stepson, Wesley Cagle; his first wife, Elaine; his sisters, Linda Martin, Deborah Faciane, Marilyn Waldrep and Sheila Parish; and his grandchildren, Rachelle Palmer, Truitt Smith, David Cagle, Adam Cagle, Angelo Cagle, Silvio Morisi and Giulano Morisi.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Brother Billy Reyer of Sunflower Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
