Stephen Anthony Furney also known as “Skeeter” passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the age of 62, surrounded by his family.
Stephen was a lifelong resident of Harrison County. He was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a First Class rigger for 19½ years. Then he was employed by the City of Biloxi in the Parks and Recreation Department for 19 years. He spent many years at the ball fields playing softball and coaching. He was loved by many. He loved to tell stories and never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arlow “Jack” Furney and his mother, Alberta Brossett Furney.
He is survived by his brothers, Arlow Furney, Jr. (Kathy) and Johnny Furney (Billie); his sister, Betty Rhodes; his daughter, Selena Furney; his sons, Stephen Furney and Scott Furney; his grandson, Mason Furney; his granddaughter, Madison Widel; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a procession to Biloxi City Cemetery for an 11:30 am graveside service.
