Steven Oran Tillinghast

Steven "Steve" Oran Tillinghast, age 70, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Wiggins, Mississippi. Steve came from a pioneer Ocean Springs family and was born on May 26, 1946 in Biloxi to John Oran Tillinghast and Mary Alice Brumbaugh Tillinghast. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was an avid hunter and his handle was "Deer Hunter." Steve was a 32nd Mason and a Shriner. Steve's survivors include his daughter, Rena Tillinghast Bradley; his sisters, Alice Deakle of Lucedale, MS, Susan Garlotte of Ocean Springs, MS, and JoAnn Thompson of Ocean Springs, MS; his twin brother, Stan Tillinghast of Wiggins, MS; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a 3:00 p.m. service, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be sent to the memorials of Shriners Hospitals for Children, International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
