Thomas Perkins Moreton, 83, peacefully departed this life on Earth and went to meet his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
Tommy was born in Washington, DC on December 31, 1933. He was the son of Frederick Perkins and Ann DePriest Moreton. He was raised in Biloxi and graduated from Biloxi High School in 1951. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and graduated in 1955. Upon graduation, Tommy returned to the Mississippi Coast to work in banking both in Pascagoula and Ocean Springs. In 1960, he married Anne Marie Miller of Florence, SC and they settled at Chinquapin Farm in Ocean Springs to raise their family. He loved deep sea fishing and boating, and he enjoyed the tranquility that came from being on the water. He and his wife enjoyed many evenings on their patio and their pier overlooking Fort Bayou. The most abundant love in Tommy’s heart was the love he held for his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. For his family, there was neither a sacrifice too great nor a worry too small. Family was the center of his world.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Perkins Moreton and Ann DePriest Moreton; and daughter, Kim Moreton Butirich.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Anne Marie Moreton; son, Frederick Perkins Moreton, II (Angela); daughter, Kelly M. Livingston; sister, Judy M. Howell; grandchildren, Cody Livingston, Faith Livingston, Allie Moreton, Madeline Moreton, and Adeline Moreton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful, in-home caregivers who gave so selflessly to care for him the last few years of his life. Thank you for loving him as if he were your own.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 800 Porter Ave, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
