Thurston Jackson “Bud” Nolen, age 57, of Gulfport passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Gulfport.
He was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Gulfport High School, class of 1976. He retired after 27 years of service with Civil Service at the Navy Base where he was an education service officer. He was Episcopalian, a past officer and member of Gulfport Jaycees and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletics. He was a licensed boat captain, an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and cruises. Bud was a loving husband and father and family was very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zachariah Jackson and Elizabeth Brown Nolen; and a sister, Betsey Nolen Poole.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Nolen and daughter, Sarah Olivia Nolen, both of Gulfport; and three sisters, Nancy Nolen of Jackson, AL, Palmer “Pam” Macintosh of Garland, TX and Susan Nolen of The Woodlands, TX.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service is Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
