Tommy G. Stanfield

Tommy G. Stanfield, 79, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Ocean Springs. Mr. Stanfield was a resident of Ocean Springs since 1990. Mr. Stanfield joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 as a radar technician. While stationed in France, he visited Brussels, Belgium, where he met and married the love of his life, Yvonne. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1973, he returned with his family to Belgium, where he managed the Family Housing office at SHAPE, Belgium. He later went to work for the Base Exchange. In 1990, they came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to be with their daughter and her family. He worked at the Base Exchange on Keesler AFB until his health made it impossible to do so. When not at work, he enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and feeding the birds in his backyard. Mr. Stanfield is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Thelma Stanfield. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Yvonne Stanfield; his daughter, Cherie (Robert) Auger; his son, Eddie (Marie Claire) Stanfield; his grandchildren, Tony DeRosa, Magali Stanfield, Anne Marie Auger, Bobby Auger, and Jonathan Peypers; and his great-grandchildren, Marco Ceccarini, Tristan Auger, and Kennedy Sowers. A Graveside Service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
