MSGT Verle Dean “Drez” Dresback passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 7, 1935 in Humboldt, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father Royal Saint Dresback and his mother Gladys Neal Dresback, and his only sibling, a brother, Keel Dresback. He is survived by his wife Gratia Simmons Dresback and his two sons Kelly Dynne Dresback, wife Glenda, and Kevin Bowers Dresback. At the age of two, during the depression they moved to Livingston, Mt., where he lived until he graduated from Park County High School. He joined the USAF in June of 1954, and served the country he loved for twenty years. He worked on programs from the audio recording equipment on U2 spy planes to the radar equipment on F-105 “Wild Weasels” in Viet Nam. He retired as an instructor for advanced electronic warfare systems at Keesler Air Force Base in May, 1974. After leaving the U.S.A.F., he worked for another 20 years for Ingles/Litton Industries in Pascagoula, Ms., where he was responsible for electronic equipment reliability on US war ships. During the sixties and seventies he coached numerous Little League Baseball, Basketball, and Football teams. He also coached Pony League Baseball for a number of years. He was an ardent member of the Gulfport Football Booster Club and was active in the weight training program with J. E Loiacano. He loved baseball, tennis and watching Peyton and Eli Manning play football, along with listening to good music turned up loud. He wrote two books and co-authored two others. His pride was his last book published just before his latest illness began, “Needless: A Fresh Look at Baseball Failures”. He dedicated his life to caring for his wife Gratia and his two sons Kelly D. and Kevin B. Dresback. He was laid to rest on August 26, 2013 at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi MS.
