Virda Mallett Davis died peacefully at her home in Vancleave, MS on November 10, 2012. Mrs. Davis was born in North Biloxi on July 16, 1928 and has been a Coast resident ever since. She was retired from the Savings and Loan business after 37 years, the last 17 of those years serving as manager of the Ocean Springs branch office of Magnolia Savings Bank. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Assemblies of God. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred S. and Virda DeLancey Mallett; infant daughter, Sharon Ann Davis; brothers, Lamar, Frederick, Presley and David Mallett; and sisters, Thelma Williams Crosby, Ione Everett and Hilda Gilly Deane. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Davis and Cheryl Lively both of Vancleave, MS and Vida (Ron) Rhoton of Houston, TX; her son, Kenneth Larry Davis of Vancleave, MS; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Patricia M. Neal of Florida; and her brothers, Rufus Mallett of Ocean Springs, MS, Harell Mallett of North Biloxi, MS and Jerry Mallett of Gautier, MS. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have provided care to Mrs. Davis throughout the years of her extended illness. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers any Memorial acknowledgements to be made to the Latimer Assembly of God Church, 15401 Allie Byrd Road, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. The Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Latimer Assembly of God Church and Cemetery. At Mrs. Davis’ request, this obituary announcement was delayed until after the funeral. The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
