Vito Akoni Paniku

Vito Akoni Paniku passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the age of 40, at his home in Ocean Springs, MS. He was born July 30, 1977 in Hilo, Hawaii, but had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since early childhood. Vito served on active duty in the Marines from 2001 to 2005_ and in the Air Force reserves until shortly before his death. Vito worked as a Service Representative with the Social Security Administration in Moss Point, MS for many years prior to his death. Vito enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his two daughters, Keli Ann Paniku (age 10) and Vivian Akela Paniku (age 7) who he loved dearly. He was a devoted father, son, and brother who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Vito was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Helen Newman Dauro and Vincent Anthony Dauro, two uncles, Gary Vincent Dauro and Timothy Paul Dauro and his father, Roy David Paniku. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Helen Ann Dauro Munter, his step-father, Charlie Munter, his sister, Maureen Ann Lynch, his brother, Brian Kates, and two precious daughters - Keli Ann Paniku and Vivian Akela Paniku, plus a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Thomas Catholic Church on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. and visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors by the USMC. Because of his faithfulness to family and friends, Vito will live eternally in our hearts and memories. His steadfast love of the Lord will assure him of a place in His kingdom.
