Walter E. Ross

Walter E. Ross, III, son of Sonya and Gene Kifer and the late Walter E. Ross, Jr. went to meet his Heavenly Father on May 20, 2015. Walter was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding. He worked his way up through the ranks from an electrical apprentice to an Electrical Engineering Test Supervisor. He loved the work he did. He was an avid diver and an instructor. He had a passion for cave diving and took a trip with friends to Bikini, the home of Sponge Bob, to dive. Walter was a very gentle soul and always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Knights of Columbus and loved his years in St. John’s CYO under the direction of Ruth Higginbotham, Gert and Brenda Newman and Doc Sekul. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Ross, Jr., brother, Christopher M. Ross and grandfather, George A. Bellais. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sonya and Gene Kifer, son, Mathew G. Ross, daughter, Sonia M. Ross, granddaughter, Maddison L. Ross, the mother of his children and very good friend, Maria Ross, a very special nephew, Cade P. Ross and grandmother, Florence Bellais. In lieu of flowers family prefers memorials to St. Vincent-de-Paul, parish of choice. Services will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapelof Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
