Wilkes J. Hebert

Wilkes J. Hebert, age 88, of D’Iberville passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport. Wilkes was born on February 15, 1929 in Biloxi, MS to the late Louis and Stella Hebert. He was a supervisor at Refueling Supply Depot and was a member of the Fleur de Lis Society. He entered the military in 1948 where he served 30 years and traveled around the world, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. He enjoyed dancing and bowling in his spare time. Wilkes is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Viola Thompson; and four brothers, Herman, Harold, Helius and Louis Hebert, Jr. Survivors include his children, Tony Hebert of Nashville, TN, Nina Hebert of Chula Vista, CA, and Wesley (Robin) Hebert of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren, Stephan (Graves), Corey (Crystal) and L.J.; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and siblings, Melvin Hebert, James (Margaret) Hebert and Mercedes Bosarge and Loretta Foster. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with funeral service on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
