Will Rutherford

Will Rutherford, adventurer, of the Mississippi Coast, went to his final rest on Monday, May 6, 2013. He was 50 years young. He loved to sing, play music, and enjoyed people. He was also a talented artist. He played numerous karaoke venues on the coast and was a three-time Covey Award nominee for his karaoke. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, and in return was very much loved himself. He was happiest when he was on the water and lived on his sailboat. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Bob Gieger formerly of Carriere MS. Survivors include his mother, Catherine Gieger of Carriere MS; father and stepmother, Jack and Paula Rutherford of Mobile AL; sister, Lorrie Drennan of Brandon MS; sister, Natasha Rutherford of Birmingham AL; brother, Jack Rutherford of Tampa FL; his fiancé Lora Blades. Per his request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Will’s life will be held at Leo’s Woodfired Pizza (1107 Government St in Ocean Springs MS) on Thursday May 9th at 5:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Clean Water Project at Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org) or to any veteran’s support organization such as The Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). As Will would say, “Ain’t nothin’ but a thing.” The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
