Mrs. Willempje Ruitenburg Engle, age 79, passed away in Gulfport, MS on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
She was born in Amsterdam, Holland on November 29, 1934 to Joris and Willempje Longendyke. Having been a WW II survivor, Willie was a strong, loving and spirited woman. She married the love of her life, Carl Engle on May 22, 1958 in Holland and came to the United States in 1959. She has been a resident of Gulfport, MS for thirty five years and is a member of St. James Catholic Church. Her true passion in life was her husband and her family.
She has gone on to join God, her loving husband Carl Engle, her eldest son Paul Engle, her parents, sisters and brother. She is survived by her sister Jorina in Holland; her daughter and son-in-law, Robert and Carla Wortel; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tina Engle; her twelve grandchildren, Leiana and Alison Coakley, Robert and Christina Wortel, Jr.; Alicia Wortel, Elmer Broomhall, Nicolas Engle, Santana Bodin, Jonathan Hodge, Christopher Engle and Timothy and Jessica Engle; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport where friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
