Gulfport
William M. “Buddy” Baylor,
III left this world for a better
place and to be with our Lord
on May 2, 2012. Born February
29, 1944, he was raised
in Gulfport on 2nd Street
and attended Gulfport High
School, Harrison Central
High School, and Perkinston
Jr. College.
He was predeceased by
his mother, Harriet Ashley
Baylor and his father William
McChesney Baylor Jr.;
and paternal grandparents
William and Claudia Baylor
of Gulfport.
He is survived by his two
children William Brent (Michele)
Baylor of Gulfport, MS
and Ashley Baylor (Edward)
Arnold of Memphis, TN.
Formerly married to Sandra
Ryan Hill, the mother of their
children; four grandchildren,
Gabrielle and Ashton Baylor,
Emily and Caroline Arnold;
two sisters Harriet Manuel and
Caroline “Sugar” (Tommy)
Randolph. He had many
nieces and nephews and was
very closely involved every
day with his family whom
he deeply loved.
For over 20 years, he
was known as the “Voice
of the Gulfport Admirals”
on WGCM & WROA radios.
He was a Methodist.
He worked many years for
WROA/Coast Radio Group
and retired in 2006.
Buddy was active for many
years in Gridiron Club and
was very active all his life
in youth sports, serving as
Commissioner of the Bayou
View Little League Association
and as a coach for many
years for the Bayou View
little league team “Treated
Materials.”
He served on the Board of
Goodwill Industries , served
in the Air National Guard,
taught sailing at the Gulfport
Yacht Club ,participated in
the local Bowling League for
several years. He loved the
New Orleans Saints, New
York Yankees and all things
sports.
He looked forward to his
daily trips around Gulfport
Small Craft Harbor often
stopping to feed the seagulls
with his children and grandchildren.
Special events in his
life were with his very good
friends for routine coffee talks
and lunch gatherings.
Buddy (Pawpaw) will be
sadly missed by his family
and friends.
The funeral service is Saturday,
May 5, 2012 at 11:00
a.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe
Funeral Home, 15th Street,
Gulfport where friends may
visit beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Floral
Hills Memorial Gardens.
