William "Murray" Killebrew

William “Murray” Killebrew, 63, of Biloxi, MS went to his heavenly home on August 24, 2016 after a long struggle with kidney disease. Murray was born on February 27, 1953 to William O. and Loree Simpson Killebrew in Sioux City, IA. He was a loving and spirited man who embraced life to the fullest. He graduated from Biloxi High in 1971 and was the president of his class all four years. He served in the United States Army for four years and returned home to finish his degree in education. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree from USM and his Masters from William Carey. He was an outstanding educator in the Biloxi School system for 27 years. He was nationally recognized for his innovations in the classroom and was an exceptional principal at Howard II Elementary, Lopez Elementary and Biloxi Junior High School. He loved sports and was a passionate supporter of the Saints and the Atlanta Braves. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi. His family and friends will miss his mischievous smile, good nature, and his love for everyone. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Killebrew is survived by his son, Nathanial Killebrew of Biloxi; two brothers, Nolan Craig Killebrew and his wife, Soo, of El Paso, TX, and Ronald Wayne Killebrew and his wife, Hwa Cha, of Seoul, Republic of Korea; one sister, Gloria Ann Phillips and her husband, Richie, of Hoover, Al; two nieces, Susan Dawn Killebrew and Loree Kim Killebrew; three nephews, Ronald William Killebrew, Cade Phillips and Blake Phillips; and countless family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Murray’s name to the Biloxi First Education Fund, PO Box 982, Biloxi, MS 39533. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, September 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
