Mr. Winfred Gregory Ladner, our loving father, peacefully passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the age of 77.
Mr. Ladner was retired from a local sheet metal workers union. He was of the Catholic faith, a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Mr. Ladner enjoyed being with family, playing his fiddle, and baking delicious apple jelly cakes and lemon cakes.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Deonie and Leona Ladner; the love of his life of 54 years, Marie Galle Ladner; brothers, Ora, Dennis, Hayward and Jimmy Ladner; and sisters, Rena Hoda, Relia Harriel, Vera Olier and Mildred Ladner.
He is survived by one son, Winfred Gregory Ladner, Jr. (LaRhonda); three daughters, Karen Adams (Mikey), Cheryl Steinwinder (Freddie), and Monica Calderon (Tim); two sisters, Neva Olier and Betty Ladner; brother, Howard Ladner; eight grandchildren, Michael Adams (Jania), Bridgett Lopez (Justin), Phillip Adams, Jada Ladner, Brittany Scott (Brad), Blake and Rachel Steinwinder and Katie Frommeyer; nine great-grandchildren, Michael III, Faith and Anchor Adams, Olivia, Gabriella and Deuce Lopez, Chandler Dixon, Colt Miller and Emerson Scott.
The family extends a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Ocean Springs Nursing Center, MICU and second floor west caregivers of the Ocean Springs Hospital and Maggie with Hospice Compassus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Swetman Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
