Adrienne Diaz Spear

Adrienne Diaz Spear was carried home by her Heavenly father on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Gulfport, MS, just one day shy of her 81st birthday. Her firm belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, sustained her in life and during her struggle, ultimately granting her peace. She was born at home to the late Joe and Elinor Trochesset Diaz. She was immersed in the Catholic community that would be her life long support. She attended St. Theresa's School & Church and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1954. In 1955, Adrienne began the dance of her life with Alvin B. Spear for 62 years. They were blessed with five caring children, ten loving grandchildren, and seventeen cherished great-grandchildren, that were the joy of her life. All the kids knew that a visit to Maw Maw's house would include cooking, baking, playing cards, watching game shows, and any activities outside. The first thing the great-grandchildren wanted to do when they arrived at Maw Maw's was to play cards with her! Adrienne's endeavors through her life included owning and operating three restaurants; and losing her home to two hurricanes (Camille and Katrina), along with all of her beloved family photos. Her enjoyments in life were Braves baseball, LSU baseball and football, the Biloxi Shuckers, casino video poker, Saints football, playing cards with her family and friends, bingo, reading books, and family vacations. Adrienne's selfless heart was witnessed by many as she was a caregiver for her mother for twelve years, a dedicated wife and a loving mother. Family members remember and describe her as the following: Inspiring, Selfless, Compassionate, Caring, Cherished, Protective, Motherly, Accepting, Unconditional, Saint, Beautiful, Hero, Sweetheart, and the Roux of the Family! She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Elinor Trochesset Diaz; her son, Kenneth A. Spear; and her sister, Marie Diaz Balius. Adrienne is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Alvin; her son, Bryan (Pat) Spear; her daughters, Stacey (Tom) Wilson, Mary (Dr. Ronald) Bourgeois, and Monica (Jeffrey Matthews, fiance); and her daughter-in-law, Sherill; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and her brother, Roland Diaz. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with a 1:00 Mass of Christian Burial, all Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at D'Iberville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hightower, her nurse, Julie, and all of the nurses and staff on the oncology and seventh floor at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. Another special thank you is extended to Kristian Spear (her granddaughter) who took exceptional care of our Mom while she was sick.
