Allen T. Curry, age 86, passed away on April 10, 2021.
Mr. Curry was a former Superintendent of Schools in the Ocean Springs School District from 1971- 1990. He graduated from St. Martin High School, Perkinston Junior College, Mississippi Southern College with a B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education and a M.Ed. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Educational Administration and a specialist in School Administration from the University of South Alabama. He began his educational career at Vancleave High School as a teacher and coach. In 1962, he moved to Ocean Springs schools as the first junior high school principal. He later served as an elementary school principal, high school principal, and assistant superintendent. In 1971, he was elected Superintendent and served in that capacity until 1990 when he retired. Allen was honored as Ocean Springs Outstanding Citizen in 1987. After retirement from education, he worked at Ingalls Ship Building in Logistics. Mr. Curry was an U.S. Army Veteran, having served with the 1st infantry Division, 63rd Tank Battalion. He also served in both the Alabama and Mississippi National Guard and retired in the Army Reserves with the rank of Colonel.
Mr. Curry was a member of the American Association of School Administrators, Mississippi Association of School Administrators, Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, and the Gulf Coast Superintendents Association. He served on the Legislative Committee of the Mississippi High School Activities Association and served as president of both Jackson County and Ocean Springs Teachers Associations. He was a former member of Ocean Springs Rotary Club and Ocean Springs Noon Lions Club. Allen was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Curry was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Curry and Lillian Scarborough Curry.
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Calcote Curry; three children, retired Col. Margaret Curry (Ralph) Paradiso, Marsha (Paul) Greer, and Todd (Lorelie) Curry; five grandchildren, Anna Kate Greer, Ava Greer, Roman Paradiso, Juliana Paradiso, and Flint Curry.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Coalville Cemetery in Woolmarket, MS.
