Althea Broussard Thibodeaux, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Biloxi, MS.
Althea was born in Maurice, LA and was a resident of Biloxi for over 80 years. She worked in the Seafood Industry, the Biloxi School System, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, American Legion, the Golden Age Club, and the Fleur de Lis Society where she was always so proud to lead the meetings by saying the Our Father in French.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Noah Thibodeaux; parents, Arthur and Louise Broussard; and her sisters and brothers.
Althea is survived by her sons, Floyd (Josephine) Thibodeaux, Sr. of Woolmarket and Darryl (Ann) Thibodeaux of Ocean Springs; daughter, Gail (Gordon) Parker of Biloxi; 7 grandchildren, Yvette (Mark) Fountain, Floyd (Rene) Thibodeaux, Jr., Josette (Mickey) Dutil, Angela (Darrell) Pickich, Darryl (Jane) Thibodeaux, Jr., Sherree (Tim) Pierce, and Keri (Chris) Campbell; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to St. Michael Catholic Church Building Fund, 177 First Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale and the nurses of Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care during this most difficult time. A special thanks to Father Greg Barras and the St. Michael Outreach Ministry for their many visits and blessings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Biloxi at 11am on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 where friends may visit from 10am until 11am. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
