Anne Denton Heidelberg of Long Beach, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, Aug 23, 2018.
She was born November 29, 1940, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to John and Margaret Ellis Denton.
She graduated from Deshler High School in Tuscumbia in 1959. She received a Bachelor in Science degree from Auburn University in 1963 and a Master in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Ms. Heidelberg taught school for many years in Long Beach before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. She retired as a training officer from Sun Trust Bank before returning to Long Beach.
She was a member of the Long Beach Historical Society; the Gulf Coast Chi Omega Alumna; a life member of the Gulfport Junior Auxiliary; and a previous member of the Gulfport Yacht Club. As an active member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, and later in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, she had served on the Vestry as Director of the Altar Guild and other positions.
Ms. Heidelberg is survived by her son, Charlie Heidelberg of Long Beach; a granddaughter, Heidi, and a great grandson, Thor, of Delchambre, Louisiana; a brother, Dr. John Denton (Nancy) of New York City; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and John Denton, and her daughter- in-law, Angel Heidelberg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Altar Guild Fund at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church,1909 Fifteenth St., Gulfport, MS 39501.
The funeral service will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport where friends may visit one hour before the service at the church.
