Anthony Christ Kallas

Anthony Christ Kallas, 74, also known as “Tony”, “Pops” and “Coach”, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Anthony was born on April 21, 1947 in Dixon, Illinois, to his parents, Christ and Violet Kallas. He earned two Master’s Degrees in Literature and Philosophy at Sagamon State University. He served in the United States Army, in the Vietnam War from 1964-1967 as a Sergeant, 1st Air Cavalry. Anthony worked as Director of Multiple Child Care facilities. He was a soccer and basketball coach. He retired as the Director of Domestic Violence Counseling. He enjoyed fishing, tai chi, reading and was a writer of poetry. Anthony is preceded in death by his father, Christ Kallas; his siblings, Andrew Kallas, and Dennis Kallas. He is survived by his mother, Violet Kastner; his ex-wives, Susan Kallas and Minh Chau Nguyen; his children, Anthony C. Kallas II and Timothy B. Kallas; his grandchildren, Anthony C. Kallas III, Gwendolynn Cox, Tabitha Kallas, Patience Kallas, Bradford Kallas, Connor Kallas and Minh Nguyen; his great grandchildren, Colton Cox, Rayson Cox, Morgan Cox, Adalynn Cox, Addyson Bickel, Audrey Bickel, Alexis Stephens, Christian Lesso, Crislen Martin, and Mew Nguyen; and his siblings, George Kallas, Diane Cornwall, Jeanette Parker, Glenda Owoc, Karl Kastner, Dennis Kallas, Christine Kallas, Helen Kallas McMahon, Kathy Kallas, Toni Ann Gulley and Christ Kallas. The family would prefer donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Vietnam Veterans of America. The family would like to give special thanks to the D’Iberville VFW, Honor Guard, Patriot Riders, Freedom Riders, The Nursing staff at Memorial Hospital and everyone that reached out during these troubled times. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road Chapel. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road Chapel at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at 10:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery. A reception will be held following the funeral service and interment. The reception will be at 11:00 AM at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road Chapel, 2511 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road in Biloxi, is honored to serve the Kallas family.
