Barbara Ann Bullock Sekul

Barbara Ann Bullock Sekul, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Ocean Springs, MS, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Bobbie Ann, as she was known by her friends and family, was born in St. Martin, and graduated from St. Martin High School in 1952. She attended Providence School of Nursing in Mobile, Alabama and practiced as a registered nurse for over 40 years, working most of her career at the Biloxi Regional Medical Center and the Biloxi VA Hospital. She loved to dance and celebrate, which explains why Mardi Gras was her favorite holiday. She was a member of Billikens for many years and served as Captain. She was a past queen of Reveler’s, and was a founding member of the Derby Strutters marching group. She was a great cook, and the best meals were the ones she “messed up”. She enjoyed sports. She was an avid fan of Duke during basketball season and Notre Dame during football season – because they were the “best” teams. Bobbie Ann could not be put into a box. She enjoyed sports and loved outdoor activities, such as camping, flounder gigging, shrimping and simply spending an entire week on a beach. She was a caregiver by trade and by nature but was no push-over. She was tough and independent, yet classy and stylish. She could teach you how to sew, cook, shoot a basketball, throw a cast net and how to be a “lady”. She will be remembered as a truly dynamic person who never shied away from adventure. Her spirit and energy will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Craymon and Lural Quave Bullock, her daughter Nadine Marie Sekul, her brothers, John "Boots" Bullock, and William “Billy” Bullock, and her former husband Anthony Sekul. She is survived by her daughters, Katrina Sekul Virden and Maria Sekul; her son, Peter (Beth) Sekul; her grandchildren, Claire Virden, Ashley Sekul, and Brianna Sekul; and her grandsons, Todd Lyons and Peter Virden III. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 12:00pm at St. Michael Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 11:00am-12:00pm. Interment will follow at Bosarge Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sekul family.
