Betty Mae “Mema” Vanhooser, 74, of Biloxi, MS passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in Biloxi.
Mrs. Vanhooser was born November 1, 1943 in Gainesboro, TN to Ralph and Jo Helen Bowman. She was a 1962 graduate of Jackson County Central High School and retired from the U.S. Civil Service Keesler Air Force Base Child Care Center. Mrs. Vanhooser dedicated her life to God, her family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Vanhooser’s survivors include her husband of 56 years, Joe Frank Vanhooser; her children, Melodie Durlak, Kimberly Wood and Joe F. Vanhooser, Jr.; her grandchildren, Tara Junkert, Jessica Green, Amber Green, Tabitha Junkert, Kaila Wood, Christopher Vanhooser, Garrett Wood, Noah Vanhooser and Jaxon Vanhooser; her great-grandchildren, Gage Green and Caiden Whittington; and her brother, Bill Bowman.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Mrs. Vanhooser’s memory to the Rodenberg Church of Christ, 173 Rodenberg Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39531.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Allison Wall, Rebecca Guice, NP and Keesler Medical Center staff for their heart felt care of our loving Mema.
Visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Friday, June 1, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Rodenberg Church of Christ on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:30 pm where friends may visit from 1:30 pm until service time. A Graveside Service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:00 am.
