Billy V. Tiblier, age 83, a resident of D’Iberville, died at home, peacefully in the arms of his wife on Friday, April 19, 2019 following a long and progressive illness.
Billy was born just after midnight, only minutes after the birth of his twin sister, on August 20th, 1935 in what is now the city of D’Iberville, MS. He graduated from D’Iberville High School in 1954, but continued his education in the school of hard knocks and the university of hard work. Like many from his generation, he began working as a pre-teen and never stopped. Billy was known for (and freely taught any who would listen) an impeccable work ethic and always did extra without being asked. It was his true nature. Billy (Mr. Bill, Papa Bear) had a big personality and sense of humor that made him a fun loving, yet hard working man, with a huge and loving heart. Well loved and respected by his peers, friends, and family, Billy was a man of many skills and talents. He dearly loved his family and friends, and his birthplace. After leaving the Mississippi Coast for Southern California in 1964, he returned to his beloved Coast and his large extended family in 1976 where he changed careers and reinvented himself as an automobile salesman and then General Manager for Glass Motor Company for many years. Following Hurricane Katrina, he rolled up his sleeves again to serve as Special Assistant for Volunteers and Services as our beautiful Coast rebuilt.
Billy Tibler is preceded in death by his parents, Owens George and Delia Catherine (Davis) Tiblier; twin sister, Betty (Tiblier) Mallett; sister, Delores (Tiblier) and brother-in-law Webster Lee; brother, Emile Tiblier and sister-in-law, Marjorie (McClellan); brother, Milton Tiblier (Bootsie); nephew Dr. Jerry Mallett, Jr.; brother-in-law, William McClellan; along with a number of dear friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loyal furry friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Mae (Necaise) Tiblier; son, Bruce (Lucinda) Tiblier; daughter, Dawn (Robert) Rebarchik; grandchildren, Matthew Tiblier and Lindsay (Jamie) Martin; and great granddaughters, Guinevere and Eleanora. He is also survived by a large extended family and dear friends who will tell stories about him for decades to come. His steadfast canine companion, Cisco, that was always his comforter and protector, will miss him as well.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Lemoyne Boulevard in D’Iberville, MS on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation for friends will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery and reception information will be announced at the church visitation.
Though he will be dearly missed by those of us who remain, his family asks that you remember him by doing something meaningful for someone else.
The family wish to express our deepest thanks to Kare in Home nurses and aides in both the home health and hospice departments who cared for “Mr. Billy” with gentleness and love. In particular, Leah, Madelyn, Naomi, and Britney. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Tabitha Bond, NP., whose compassion and care (including that of her staff) went above and beyond.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
