Mr. Bobby Floyd Vercher, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Ocean Springs. He was welcomed into his eternal home by his loving wife Sybil Jean Vercher. He is also preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Eva Vercher, and brothers Van Vercher and Reece Lacour. Mr. Vercher was born in Pasadena, Tx on August 8, 1944. There in his hometown, he entered the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base where he met his devoted wife, Sybil. During his service, Mr. Vercher served in Vietnam and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his service to his country, he established his home in Biloxi, MS where he raised his family. Mr. Vercher went on to retire from the Defense Contract Audit Agency. During his tenure with DCAA, he was awarded the Handicap Employee of the Year, which was presented to him in Washington, D.C. by Gen. Colin Powell. Mr. Vercher was a very humble, honorable, and God-fearing man. He served as Deacon for many years in the church. He was very devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Vercher was an avid reader and enjoyed playing pool. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a quiet man, yet when he spoke everyone listened and deeply valued what he had to say. Mr. Vercher is survived by his children: Rev. John (Michelle) Vercher, Jill (Chris) Thomas, and Amanda (Joe) Russ. Grandchildren: Jake and Sarah Thomas, John (Tayler) Vercher, Desiree (Matt) Rosonet, CJ (Alicia) Henry, Davin Henry, and DeWayne Henry. Six great grandchildren, many members of his extended family, and his cat Jupiter “Jup-Jup”. A private service will be held for immediate family and a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date. The family would like to say a special thank you to Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.
