Carl Henry “Mike” Swickerath III, 70, passed away on June 1, 2019. Mike was a native of Oakridge, Tennessee, but long-time resident of Conyers and Valdosta, Georgia, Washington D.C., and Gulfport, Mississippi. Mike graduated high school in Maryland and served in the Vietnam War with the United States Army. He obtained his law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois and was an active member of the Georgia Bar Association until his retirement. Mike’s hobbies included Harley Davidson motorcycles, sailing in the Gulf of Mexico, and collecting antiques. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Louise Swickerath, siblings Bob Eidson and Jerrilyn Swickerath, and son Matt Swickerath. Mike is survived by daughter Erin (Paul) Miller of Parker, Colorado; sisters Bette (Haskell) Sewell formerly of Valdosta, currently Cumming, Georgia, and Lyn (Robert) Preston of Leland, North Carolina; two grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Funeral service and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street Chapel in Gulfport was is in charge of arrangements, and was honored to help serve the family and friends.
