Carlos Zamarripa

Carlos Zamarripa of Ocean Springs, Mississippi passed away on July 24, 2021 at the age of 59, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 10, 1961 in Brownsville, Texas to Jose and Rosalinda Zamarripa, and grew up in Ft. Meade, Florida. He was a man of great and loyal character. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of his heart, soul, and strength. Carlos loved and cared deeply for his country. He spent 20 years (1982-2002) in the Navy as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Corpsman supporting both sailors and marines around the world. During his career, he was very proud of service and stations he served, including Bethesda, Maryland, Okinawa, Japan, Knoxville, Tennessee, Kaneohe, Hawaii, Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Rota, Spain, to which he attributes most of his personal growth as a man and the person he was throughout his life. The friends he made throughout this journey were his life-long brothers, and men who cared and supported Carlos through all of his major life moments. During his service, Carlos earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland University College in Computer Management and Information Science. Upon retirement, Carlos continued to support his country, working for the Veteran’s Affairs Health Care System, where he worked for 18 years. To sum it up, Carlos was very proud of being a veteran, and supporting his brother and sister veterans, who brought him so much happiness in life. During his time in the military, Carlos met the love his life, Delia Beard, whom he has been married to for the last 30 years. They married in 1991 and started their family together shortly thereafter, raising one son, Carlos Austin Zamarripa, and one daughter, Holly Danielle Zamarripa. He loved supporting and cheering on his children in all of their endeavors, serving as a source of inspiration that helped both achieve their highest goals and dreams. He would tell anyone who would listen about his family and all of their achievements, speaking proudly and enthusiastically about every feat they had accomplished. Carlos was also a caretaker of animals, adopting many pets throughout his lifetime, and forming many inseparable bonds. In his free time, Carlos enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending times on the coastal islands, especially Horn Island, with friends and family. Any opportunity to bring a new friend on the water was a chance seized by Carlos. At home, Carlos enjoyed watching action, sci-fi, and western movies, and cooking a variety of meals with his family. Carlos will always be remembered for his fun, carefree, and joking personality. He is survived by his wife and children. His parents, his brothers, Gabriel, Horacio, Jose, and Domingo Zamarripa, and his sisters, Flora Rojas, Maria Romero, and Patricia Herrera, and all of their families.
