Catherine Anne Baricev-Fiorentini

Catherine Anne Baricev-Fiorentini joined our merciful Father in heaven on Sunday, January 13, 2019. She was born at home on December 22, 1936, in Biloxi, Mississippi to Maritza and Anthony Baricev who preceded her in death along with her beloved sister, Jomarie Baricev-Soares. She is survived by her brother Anthony Baricev, five children, 10 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Catherine was very much loved by her family, especially her children Gina Wright, Victor Fiorentini, Elisa Esparza, Marisa Engh, and Walter Fiorentini. As she was so loved in life, she will be so missed in death by all of her children and their children – Gabriel Godbold, Dante Esparza, Andrea Fiorentini, Jon Esparza, Anthony Fiorentini, Steven Engh, Rachel Fiorentini, Mara Fiorentini, Duncan Wright, and Luca Fiorentini. Her cherished great grandchildren are Dante Esparza, Kristen Esparza, Myles Godbold, Christopher Carson, Violet Carson, and Joseph Carson. Catherine took tremendous pride in her role as a mother, but she possessed many accomplishments, which over the course of her life included music, competing in beauty pageants, crocheting, and being one of the best cooks (that we know of) on the west and gulf coasts. Catherine was also proud of her Catholic faith which supported her through being a military wife to Lt Cmdr Walter Fiorentini. While Walter served in combat, Catherine was often charged with the responsibility of raising their five children on her own for many months at a time. Catherine passed away in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in the loving presence of her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Joel Wright. Her final resting place will be among family members at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi, Mississippi. We will remember her for her kindness, affection, sense of humor, and the beauty she radiated both from within and without. We love you Mom, Nana, Mew-Mew, and Great Grandma. Her funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, located at 2090 Pass Road, Biloxi. Visitation for family members will begin at 10:00 a.m., after which, the public is invited to wish Catherine goodbye and God’s blessings. A private reception for family members will be held in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joel and Gina Wright. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
