Charlotte Ann Russ Capdepon

Charlotte Ann Russ Capdepon born Feb. 24, 1935 passed away peacefully Aug. 20, 2021 at the age of 86 in Baton Rouge, LA. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. The daughter of John Kimball Russ and Edna Mae Harris Russ of Picayune, MS., Charlotte graduated in 1953 from Picayune Memorial High School where she played the clarinet and sax in the marching band. She went on to attend Pearl River Junior College where she met Henry, fell in love, and two weeks later married her husband of nearly 60 years. Charlotte was the proud wife of a Marine and loving mother to three children, Bridget, Cap and Wes. She volunteered in her children’s schools, served as a Girl Scout leader and as the neighborhood chairman of the Scouts at New River Air Station in North Carolina. She also dedicated her time to various positions in the Officers Wives Club at New River, including the position of president - a position she was surprisingly elected to while on vacation with her family. After her children were grown, Charlotte worked as an administrative assistant for MetLife Insurance from 1976 to 1996. Following her retirement, she volunteered her time for many years at her church through service in the office and with the choir. She was also a very loyal volunteer for Feed My Sheep. While she enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, when she was home she could often be found visiting with friends at the local boutique As You Like It, where she was fondly regarded as a ray of sunshine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Paul Capdepon Jr., son, Jay Fitzgerald Capdepon, sisters, Glenda Marlene Merrill and Kimball Louise Smallwood, and daughter-in-law Donna Jean Capdepon. Charlotte is survived by her three children, Bridget Capdepon Damratoski (Keith), Henry Paul Capdepon III and retired Lt. Col. John Wesley Capdepon (Janice). Eleven grandchildren, John Wesley Capdepon (Taila), Henry Paul Capdepon IV (Brittany), Megan Damratoski Yoder (Ryan), Maj. Ryan Fitzgerald Capdepon (Jamie), Katie Jane Damratoski, Amanda Leigh Capdepon, Emily Rebecca Kennedy (Tom), Molly Elizabeth Turner (Joe), Maggie Denise Melvin (Matthew), Sheldon Wayne Capdepon and Bonnie Jean Capdepon. Also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport, MS., where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 A.M. Internment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be retired Lt. Col. John Capdepon, Keith Damratoski, Steven Merrill, Greg Merrill, Ryan Yoder, Lonnie Shelton and Gerald Warren. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund on her behalf. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the love and care given to Charlotte by Garden View Assisted Living, Med Pass, Hospice Specialist of Louisiana and to her numerous caregivers and sitters.
