Charlotte Ella Poteete Layosa, age 96, of Perkinston, MS passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Pascagoula.
Mrs. Layosa was born on October 28, 1922 in Crowder, MS. She was employed as a hostess and event planner for Gus Stevens. Mrs. Layosa was a well-known artist on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Layosa; her parents, Guy Poteete and Mary Pugh Poteete; and her daughter, Cynthia Simmons Kolndorfer; her siblings, Beau Poteete, Josephine Rybak and Melba Hamrick; and her loving companion, Darrell Leischner.
Mrs. Layosa is survived by her daughters, Nancy Anne (Chester) Diaz and Rosemary Layosa McGarry; her grandchildren, Cheryl Suzette Salley, Kirk Simmons, Ryan Simmons, Tony Mastrofini and Chester Lee Diaz, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Brittney Biggs, Whittney Farmer, Brooke Simmons, Raven Dotson, Aliza Vanbrocklin, Jake Simmons, Margaret Diaz, Makayla, Travis Simmons, Angel Simmons, Lexie Diaz, Macie Diaz and Lacie Diaz; her great-great-grandchildren, Christian Biggs, Brayden Biggs and Jade Dotson; her brother, Billy Poteete; and numerous extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:30 am. Friends may visit from 10:30 am until service time. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
