Cheryl Grissom Ashley, age 55, of Gulfport, MS died Friday, May 31, 2019, in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Owen) Grissom and Barbara Grissom; grandparents Arthur and Eunice Tharnish, Phillip Grissom, and Martha (Granny) Grissom; nephew Clyde Kenneth Study, III, and great nephew Braydon Study.
Survivors include her loving son, Corey Ashley; sisters Debra Study, Kaye Adams, Mary Robinson, Phyllis Acevedo, and her identical twin Carol Peer;. brother in laws, Kenny Study, Richard Adams, Robert Peer and Jak Robinson; nieces and nephews Brandy, Rich, Brandon, David, Bridget, and Rachel; great nieces and nephews Kendall, Bryce, Kaylan, Grayson, Jaxson, Nickolas, Aria, Davin, K.J., Aeryss and Wyatt; great great nephew Preston; aunt Peggy Vanlandingham, and many cousins, family and friends.
Cheryl was born in Memphis, TN but grew up in Pineville, a very close knit community, where she and her family have many life long friends. She was a loving mother to her son Corey, who in her words was her heart, and she loved spending time with him. She and her identical twin sister Carol were inseparable, and they referred to themselves as two peas in a pod. She enjoyed getting on her laptop and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook and playing games, especially having Mario Kart parties with her nieces and nephews and her son Corey. She enjoyed cooking, going to the river, fishing, playing penny machines at the casinos, and annual trips with the Six-Pack. She worked as a secretary at Fleet Tire, Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide, and Coast Electric as a meter reader.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 5, from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m., with a service at 7:00 p.m. at the O’Neal Road Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home.
