Chestine “Tina" Cabler Thrash, age 90, born September 5, 1930 in Pascagoula, MS, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021.
Tina was an honor graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Junior College and a graduate of Collins College where she obtained a degree in business law and accounting. She was employed with the Prosecuting Attorney's Office in Pulaski, MO, US Naval Architect and Marine Engineering Company, Oil Production Company, and several freight-line companies in the accounting department as the General Claims Manager. She retired from Independent Life Insurance Company which was bought out by American General International.
Tina was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Professional Business Women's Club, Red Hat Society and Teamsters Union. From early childhood, Tina was an active member of the Presbyterian Church where she attended Sunday School and Bible School. As an adult she taught Sunday School, Director of Bible School, President of Woman's Auxiliary and Recording Secretary for the State Presbyterian Board. Tina was also very active in school organizations as Secretary, Treasure and President of the PTO.
Tina is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby D. Thrash; parents, Chester “Chet” F. Cabler and Sybil Helen Cabler; sister, Helen “Bebo” Cabler; first husband, Ernest D. Baker; and step-son, Don Thrash.
Her survivors include her son, Bruce (Carla) Baker; daughter, Beverly (Kevin) Steiner; grandchildren, Paul (Jordan) Baker, Kimberly (Luke) Pyron, Hunter Steiner, and Justin (Katie) Steiner; great grandchildren, Hannah (Matthew) Lowrance, Ashton Baker and Darius Pyron. She is also survived by her loving step-family: sons, Charles (Jannie) Thrash, Kevin (Verna) Thrash, and Kyle (Amy) Thrash; daughter, Sharron Stephens; grandchildren, Angela, Tracy, Brad, Donielle, Holly, Chad, Amber, Jessica, Nicholas “Nick”, Ashley, Kyla, and Zane; numerous great grandchildren; and extended family.
Tina loved the beach, festivals, and Mardi Gras, but most of all she loved her family.
Funeral service will be held at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street in Gulfport, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11am. Family and friends may visit one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
