Christine Nancy Woodhouse Salzburger

Our beloved and spirited Christine Woodhouse Salzburger passed away on November 27, 2019 at the age of 85 after significant health struggles. Remembered by family and friends as an incredibly vibrant woman, she enjoyed life immensely and often told others “I have had a wonderful life, better than I could have ever imagined.” Christine was born and raised in Writtle, a storybook village in Essex, England. She grew up on Love’s Walk, which directly led to the village’s millennium-old church where she and David, her husband of 65 years, were married. They met at the village fête when he was stationed in England as an airman in the Air Force. David and Christine traveled to many wonderful places, including a four-year stint in Anchorage, Alaska. They also had the opportunity to live in England again for several years in David’s post-retirement job at the U.S. Naval Communication Unit in London. During that time, he and Christine traveled to many magical places throughout Europe and beyond. In addition to raising her two daughters, Sheree and Joanne, she worked at a variety of civil service jobs all over the country. Christine, who lived a life of joy and had a brilliant disposition, is now dancing with the angels and reunited with her beloved mother who she lost early in her adult life.. She is remembered and cherished by her husband, daughters, two grandsons, Andrew and Jake, and a great granddaughter, Emma, and sister, Betty Woodhouse Rumsby. A graveside service honoring her life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39531. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
