Clarice Theresa Black (Mobley), 72, returned to her heavenly home on October 29, 2017 after a brave battle with an extensive illness. Her commitment to her family and her steadfast belief in God supported her in her struggle and gave her inner peace.
Clarice, daughter of the late Charles E. Mobley, Sr., the late Helen Chambers, and granddaughter of the late Ethel Mobley was born on August 27, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. She made her final home in Gulfport, Mississippi after retiring from the medical field.
She received her education through the Baltimore City Public School system. She met her husband in Baltimore where they were married and have remained united for 44 years as she supported her husband through his military career as a dedicated military wife.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church and watching classic tv shows.
Clarice loved her family and church. Her faith was her guide and strength. She was feisty and direct, but it was always out of love. In her famous words, “I just need to speak my mind.” She had a way about her that drew you to her strength but at the same time, she was tough, but it was that toughness that pushed us to be our best.
She gave of herself in a way only she could and her beautiful light will be missed. She is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was our strength when times were rough. She was a shoulder to cry on and that kick in the butt.
Clarice is survived and cherished by her husband, retired USN, Clifton A. Black; son, retired Army, MSG Shawn E. Black (Gabby Black) and daughter, LaWanda T. Jones (retired Army, SSG Joseph P. Jones); her sisters, Ms. Charlene Pinder, Ms. Shelly Mobley and Ms. Cleopatra “Nan” Mobley; preceding her in death, her beloved brother, Charles E. Mobley, Jr. on June 7, 2017 and cherished cousin, Tony Wright on December 8, 2016; grandchildren, Shawn A. Black, Clifton D. Black, Marcus A. Black, Joseph C. Jones, Ira E. Jones, and Jiawn S. Black; 3 great grandchildren and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
