David G. Agate

David G. Agate III passed away suddenly at his home in Vancleave, MS, on October 29, 2020 after a long battle with diabetes. He was 52 years old. David was born in Pittsburgh, PA. At the age of 19 he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Keesler AFB, where he met his wife Vicky. David served his country for 6 years. David and Vicky loved to travel, so they both got their CDL licenses and traveled across the country for 13 years. David was the best truck driver ever. No matter the task, he worked hard. He was extremely conscientious and kept meticulous logbooks. While unloading a truck in 2010 he fell and sustained a head injury which led to his retirement from trucking. He and Vicky then settled in Vancleave, where David enjoyed his campfires and his dogs. David then began a business of collecting and selling aluminum cans. He was fondly called the “Can Man” by his sister Lori. This business opened the door for David to share his love of Jesus and the good news of the Gospel everywhere he went, from Walmart to car dealerships. He loved life, family, his country, God, motorcycles, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of Southern Gate Church in D’Iberville and was a regular at the Thursday night Bible studies. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Vicky Agate, mother Stephanie Vera (Glenn) Fiore, sister Lori (John) Markatos, stepson A.J. Stack, granddaughter Mariah, nephew Chris Markatos, and niece Sheridan (Jake) Osburn. He is also survived by two brother-in-laws, Buddy and “Bear” Evans. He was preceded in death by his father David G. Agate Jr., brother Steve Agate, and beloved niece Kelly Markatos. He will be greatly missed but we rejoice in the promise of God that “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:6. Memorial service is this Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 5:30 at Southern Gate Church, 10253 D’Iberville Blvd., D’Iberville MS. Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Agate family.
