David E. "Dave" Young

Mr. David E. "Dave" Young, age 80, of Gautier, MS passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, June 9, 2019, in Pascagoula, MS. Dave was born on March 5, 1939, in Jonesville, Louisiana. He graduated from Block High School in Jonesville. He was employed with Chevron Refinery, retiring in 1993, after thirty years of dedicated service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gautier since 1964 and enjoyed church committees and doing church maintenance work. He also was an active member of the Walter Greene (aka Grumpy Old Men) Sunday School class. Dave served proudly in the U.S. Navy for four years and loved watching his grandchildren playing ball, gardening, woodworking and was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Rose Young and siblings, Willie Jean Furr Edwards, Velda Berry, John W. Young and Dorothy Evans. Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Jean Young, of Gautier, MS, children, Randy (Janet) Young, of Spring, TX, David (Keyla) Young, of Pascagoula, MS and Rebecca Young of Woodlands, TX, grandchildren, Brandon (Jamie) Young, Megan, Collin and Connor Young and Amber and Allison Young, great-grandchildren, Baileigh and Kaitlee Young and siblings, Eva Davis, Ann Chevallier-Taylor and Rosemary McGowen and his dear friends and travel buddies, Shelton and Mary Cambre. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 12, from 9:30am~11:30am, with an 11:30am church service, all at First Baptist Church of Gautier. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon, Collin and Connor Young and nephews and church friends and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Walter Greene Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607-3000 or to the First Baptist Church Van Fund, P.O. Box 37, Gautier, MS 39553. The family would like to thank all our family and friends and Dr. Zayed and his staff. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
